Today I am thankful for modern day conveniences (including spell check since I can never seem to spell convenience correctly).
The other day I was sitting on my couch reading. I suddenly was struck with how lucky and blessed I am. All at the same time I could hear my dishwasher washing my dishes, my washing machine washing my clothes and I could smell dinner cooking in the crock pot. Tasks that would have taken our pioneer sisters all day to accomplish I was doing in a much shorter time while still allowing me time to sit on the couch and read. How lucky is that?
There are many more modern day conveniences that I am grateful for:
cars
airplanes
computers
phones
hair dryers
running water
flushing toilets
paper
pizza ;)
candy and chocolate (it has been 12 days since I've had any....)
make-up
heated homes
TV
radio
and so many more....
What are you thankful for today?

12 people have something to say:
Did you REALLY have to mention CANDY AND CHOCOLATE????
I'm grateful for those same things--I always thought I'd like to be Laura Ingalls, but I couldn't cut it!!!
Modern conveniences are so wonderful! I especially like our microwave, I don't know what I would do without it.
I was going to say microwave! Oh well, but it is a fabulous invention! ;) And let's not forget how handy the grocery store is!!! We don't have to milk the cows or go to the hen house to get....well, I hear some people still do that. :)
I think you have covered the list well! I'm going to add doctor, since I am taking Amanda there in just a few short minutes.
:D at Yvonne.
You pretty much mentioned all. ITA with Lisa and I'll add antibiotics.
Yay for running water.
I would have made a TERRIBLE pioneer! :D
I am thankful for doctors who can help my kids with the things they have needed from day one.
Amen to everything you listed. I would add 16 hour lipstick. I know you already put make-up, but for me, that lipstick would get a special category. ;)
"Why I love reading your blog" By, Kira.
You are so positive ALL THE TIME. All your "grateful's", happy moments, spiritual thoughts, thank you's... how do you do it? (and through SD winters even!) Everything is good! You are my inspiration to be happier, thank you!
Running water
Flushing toilets
Drive thrus and atm cards. :)
Yvonne: Sorry. ;) I've always thought I would make a lousy pioneer!
Juli: Yes, microwaves are awesome!
deanne: I love that I can run down the street and pick up something to make dinner. Again, I would have made a lousy pioneer. The eggs will be nice, once they start laying more. :)
lisa: I hope Amanda is getting over her ear confliction (that is what Kaylynn used to call them). Doctors are a great thing!
NCS: Yay, antibiotics are awesome!
Suzanne: Me too! I keep telling myself that it would have been easier because we wouldn't know any different. I'm glad I don't have to find out!
justrandi: Yes, definitely! :)
kira: Smooches to you! You made my day! You are too sweet, but confused. ;) It is easy to be positive on my blog, not so easy in real life.
nobody: Yes! I love it! Drive thru ATM's are the bestest!!
I'm late to the party!
What a great list! Love it.
I mentioned my car, generator and kitchen aid!
I would like to know.. what kind of pioneer woman I would have made. Probably not a very good one.
I also am grateful for the internet and connections. They are some of the neatest things.
I can't imagine my life with out blogging.
This was really a neat post!
I have to say that I too LOVE all our technological advances and the conveniences we have now. I too would have made an incredibly lousy pioneer....I have to wonder, do you think that if the pioneers could have a sneak peak into our lives would they think our life was harder?
With technology comes so many more temptations, addictions, access to danger, and we are just as tired and busy, just with different things.
Either way, I'm still glad I live now!
