It's the little things....

With school back in session and life in the fast lane we've been trying to enjoy the quiet moments.

  • On Saturday night Jordan was at a friends birthday party so Scott and I decided to take the girls out. I told him we would win major bonus points for parent of the year award if we took them to Chucky Cheese. Not our favorite place in the world, but he consented. A good time was had by all. Said Kaylynn on the way home, "Thanks mom and dad. You are fun to hang out with!" I made her repeat it just to make sure I heard her correctly. I also told her I was going to write it down so I could show it to her when she is a teenager and would rather die than hang out with her parents.

  • Speaking of dying....Scott was terribly sick last week. He manages to get nasty sick with bronchitis about once a year, usually in the middle of winter. He had it last week and was home from work most of the week. Though I hate that he was so sick and miserable I do admit that I did enjoy having him home. I don't think we will ever be one of those older married couples that can't stand to be together after retirement. I love, love having him around and spending time with him. Even when he is hacking and coughing and sicker than a dog. Luckily he is doing much better this week.

  • Speaking of being sick. I had a good friend tell me yesterday that I am too clean. hahahahaha She thinks the reason my husband was sick was because I am a self confessed germaphobe. She thinks that a certain amount of exposure to germs is normal and healthy. I see her point and I agree to an extent, but I am not about to change my ways. My family, with the exception of my sickly ;) husband, stays relatively healthy. I don't even remember the last time I took one of my kids to the doctor because they were sick. I chalk it up to being near obsessive about having them wash their hands when they get home from school and bathing them in germx using germx regularly. I have a bottle of germx in my car that I religiously use whenever I leave a public place. I also believe that we have been tremendously blessed in having a healthy family.

  • Remember that Hawaii trip that I was bragging about mentioned a few months back, well it isn't going to happen. Scott and I decided to save our money for now. Instead we are planning a trip sometime next spring, after we get our tax return. We are thinking of going on a cruise with some good friends that just moved from our area. We still wish we could be there to cheer on our Brother-in-law Mark in his Ironman Race. Go Mark!!!!!

  • We are preparing for a long, cold winter. All reports are saying that we are due for a doozy of a winter. I keep hearing it everywhere. "The bugs have been real bad this year, that means it's going to be a cold winter". "It was a wet and much cooler summer this year, that means it is going to be a cold winter". "It has already gotten near freezing and it is still summer, that means it is going to be a cold winter". "The sun is yellow, that means it is going to be a cold winter". "Gas prices are high, that means it is going to be a cold winter". (In case you were wondering, I made those last two up.) I believe that we are due, but everyone's explanation for anything and everything is that it is going to be a cold winter. Nonetheless, we don't want to be left unprepared so we are trying to stock up on necessary supplies like firewood, toliet paper and food. Oh, and we just signed up for satellite TV. You know, the bare essentials to help us when we are snowed in.

Well I think that is enough randomness for one day.

I really don't quite understand those couples that don't enjoy hanging out together. Its a wonderful thing to spend time together! Even though retirement is at least 30 years away, I still look forward to having time together.

Chuck E Cheese makes my skin crawl. ;o) You're a good mama for taking your girls there, LOL.

Sorry Scott has been ill. I love having my hubby home, too, even when he is coughing up a lung.

Enjoy your long cold winter for me. I crave winter weather now that we've left the midwest for Texas. :o)

I hope your hubby is doing better! It's no fun to be sick. But I do understand why you like having Scott home. There is just something about having them home...

That's too bad about Hawaii, but a cruise sounds good too! That will something to look forward to this Spring.

Good luck with getting snowed in all winter! "firewood, toilet paper, food & tv" Sounds like you've got the essentials covered! ;D

Sounds like lots of busy, fun, randomness!

I'm SO not ready for winter. But, I have a feeling we are going to have a doozy too.

Chucky Cheese is one of my kids favorite too. Yeah we could do without that place but the kids love it. They didn't even know about the place until a couple of years ago from a comercial, dang TV! Glad Scott is feeling better, I feel the same way with having the man home with me. We love it.

You crack me up!

Autumn approaching makes me so happy! Winter following that lovely fall makes me feel antsy! And I can imagine it's only worse up where you are. Warm thoughts sent your way :)

Oh yes, make sure you SAVE that comment about your being fun to hang out with ; )

Hope your hubby being sick now means he won't get sick in the middle of winter--goodness I hope it isn't a bad winter. I don't even want to think about it.

It's always nice to have something to look forward to--especially after a brutal winter--and a cruise is the perfect get-away.

Ooh- I vote for the cruise. Cruises rock and you end up saving money because they are all inclusive.

You're awesome.

I am going to hang out and spend quality time with Mr next week. We are driving someplace secrety to surprise someone sweet and cute.

I vote for the cruise, too. Mr is threatening to take me on another one all the time. I wish he'd make good on that threat;)

My boys were never embarrassed by us. Well, we didn't fare so well with Mini-me. Wonder what we did wrong.

Cruises are awesome!!!

My Amanda just got a magazine on germs and proceded to tell me that our antibacterial soap wasn't good because we are killing the good bacteria...blah blah blah. I'm sticking with it. So far so good!

And I would think the same as Carrot. South Dakota winter = very very cold! Brrr!
