How did we ever live without it?

On Wednesday we passed a major milestone in our lives. We got satellite TV. For any of you that know me well know that we have been stuck in the stone ages at our house. We have been using rabbit ears to watch TV. As times are changing, and come February our rabbit ears will be obselete, we decided it was high time that we updated.

Now I am wondering how we ever lived without all these channels. Really! In 24 hours of having access to hundreds of channels rather than 5, we have learned so much. For instance, we learned survival skills from some guy named Bear. I won't tell you what he said about how to get water when you are stranded in the middle of no where and have no water source available. Um, yuck! My husband has been particularly taken with the history, military and National geographic (to name a few) channels that provide endless useless information.

I found a channel called Fit Tv, now I can exercise without even leaving my house (yeah right). I also found where I can get my Glenn Beck fix (now that is useful!). The best part is we also got a DVR so we don't ever have to miss anything on TV ever again. Unless it is something on a local channel. Evidently those aren't available through our satellite at the moment, but will be soon. Hopefully before the next season of Lost!

The main reason we got satellite was so that we can watch conference from the comfort of our own home. In the past we have watched/listened to it on-line, but watching it on TV makes so much more sense, not to mention it will be more comfortable than sitting in front of the computer.

Yay for modern technology! We never have to leave the house again, at least for entertainment. It is all here at the touch of a button. Now if only I can figure out what all the buttons on the remote are for.....

10 people have something to say:

that is exactly how I felt last year when we finally broke down and got 'cable'. I believe that whoever came up with the DVR should get the Nobel Peace prize, seriously, do you know how nice it is to pause the tv when my husband starts telling me something?? Peace, I tell ya! :)

First of all, I want to tell you how much I love your new profile pic. You look so beautiful!

Congrats on the satellite tv! We are still in the stone ages here...BUT! We did finally get a tv box converter to digital so we got about 10 extra channels and they are CLEAR and snow free. My kids are in heaven.

It's probably a good thing we don't have satellite or we would probably never do anything besides watch tv! LOL!

Have fun playing with your new gadget! And have fun watching conference this year from the comfort of your couch! :)

I ♥ Bear. Did he pee in the snake skin and drink it later?

I ♥ technology
But not as much as you, you see.
But I still ♥ technology.
Always and forever.

That's the main reason we have satelite is for conference. It is so worth it to be able to sit in the comfort of your own home in your PJ's and watch church. We watch the news every once in a while but that's about it. When it's cold outside we will spend winter nights being entertianed by it. Glad you're enjoying it.

How fun to be able to watch Conference at home. Enjoy. Please do a recap because we won't be able to get it here on the ship ; (

How fun to have a fitness channel.
