- Tonight is our Enrichment Night. I haven't been as stressed about this one as past ones. Mostly because I have bigger things on my mind right now to stress about, but that is another post for another day....Tonight's Enrichment Night is also our Visiting teacher's conference. I always struggle with this one because I feel like such a hypocrite because I am not a great visiting teacher. I guess this is as good a time as any to make sure that changes.
- We had a raccoon sneaking off with our chickens in the middle of the night. We lost 2 of our original chickens - Jordan's Chicken Little and Megan's Sally Crystal Angel as well as one of our other chickens. Thanks to my handy husband now our chicken coop is nigh unto Alcatraz. Try and break in now Mr. Raccoon. Looks like you'll have to find your midnight snack somewhere else. :P
- Our kids still have 2 weeks until school starts. In some ways I am ready for school to start, I need the
peace and quietstructure. In other ways I am grateful for a few extra days to get in those activities we haven't gotten around to yet. We still need to get back to Reptile Gardens and go see Sue, the Tyrannosaurus Rex display. - Megan starts preschool this year. I am finding myself feeling a little lost at the thought of having 3 hours 3 times a week all to myself. I am looking forward to the time to myself, but I am really going to miss her. I'm sure I can find plenty to do to occupy my time. I will probably spend a lot of it at the gym. It is time I got my hiney back to the gym.
- I recently found a new hobby. We had a family history consultant from church come over to our house the other night. She showed us how easy it is to use the new family search and now I can begin working on my Dad's line. There is a ginormous amount of genealogy that needs to be done on his side. I am anxious to get to work.
- Our garden has been a great disappointment this year. We usually have an over abundance of squash and are always giving away so much from our garden because we can't eat it all. Not this year. We will not be getting any squash at all this year. The only thing we have gotten plenty of is peppers, most of them too hot for anyone but Scott to eat. We have lots of tomatoes, but they are still green. We've gotten a couple of cucumbers and some green beans too, but nothing like what we are used to. I am blaming our garden woes on the cold wet spring that we had. It certainly has nothing to do with the fact that I planted our garden this year instead of Scott.
Have a great day!

11 people have something to say:
Our garden was a huge disappointment this year, too. Our tomatoes and bell peppers never produced any fruit. Even the basil, which usually is HUGE, did nothing. Ugh.
Yay for genealogy!
"nigh unto Alcatraz" made me laugh.
I think it's totally AWESOME that you're getting into your family history. (go figure)
nikko: I don't know what it was this year, but I have been so bummed about our garden.
millie: I knew you would be happy to hear that I have caught the family history bug! :)
Sorry about the chickens ; (
We have a couple of weeks until school starts, too. Summer has just flown by.
Congrats on getting busy with the family history. We get the new family search program in September. I'm really excited.
We have gardening woes here too this year.
Good luck with Enrichment. How fun that you've started tracking the family line. What a great hobby to have!
I didn't plant a garden at all this year...I just THOUGHT about doing it, so you are way better off than me in that department.
I'm not a very good visiting teacher. I always have such good intentions and then the month flies by.
Poor chickens.
I don't have a garden. That is guilt all by itself.
I'll be looking for that "other post."
I like the peace and quiet and the schedule school brings. So far my kids have been loving it.
School starts Monday, and I want the structure, but not the busy.
We don't seem to have Enrichment too much in our ward. Sad, huh?
"We had a family history consultant from church come over to our house the other night." Was it Millie coming from out of state??? :D
I'm sorry about your chickens! That was probably especially hard for your kids because they had named them!
Good luck with your Enrichment Night! I'm sure there is a lot on your mind right now.
You're going to love that free time each week, I promise! It's so nice to be able to exercise kiddie free and have just a little "me" time. But I know what you mean about missing Megan. It can be hard too.
Our garden did terribly this year too, and you probably know why! ;)
O.k. somehow this turned into a novel... Have a great night! :)
Move to Texas. We have summer-at least temperature wise-until November or so!
That way you can feel like you're getting more "summer" stuff accomplished.
Racoons are so rude!
BTW, Sally Crystal Angel is a great name for a chicken ;)
