Weekend Wrap-up

We had an exciting weekend at our house.

On Friday the kids and I were able to go to a friend's house for dinner while Scott had to go to training for work. It was fun to get out of the house and visit with good friends. Thanks Nic and Kendra!

On Saturday, between thunderstorms, Scott worked hard on the chicken coop while I accompanied Jordan to his baseball game. It was cloudy and rainy when Jordan and I went to the game, but it was hot and sunny 3 hours later (this includes waiting one hour for the rain and lightning to stop so he could play) when we came home. I got a nice sunburn on the tops of my feet. Ouch!

With the chicken coop being closer to being done we moved the chickens outside. I don't know who was happier. Me to have the stinky, smelly creatures out of my house or them to finally have a taste of the great outdoors.

Of course, I worried about them for a good part of the night Saturday night. Are they warm enough? Will the thunder scare them? Will some creature find them in the night? Will they still be alive in the morning? Who knew I would care so much about chickens? I keep reminding myself that chickens have been around for thousands of years, surely they can survive anything.

Saturday night Scott and I went to dinner with several couples (12 of us total) from our church. The majority of them are preparing to move soon. They are all in the Air Force and are moving on to new assignments. It was so much fun to enjoy an evening with them. I haven't laughed that hard for a long time. We have been blessed while living here to have met such wonderful friends. The downside to this is having to say goodbye to them. One of the couples with us that night has just recently moved back after leaving here a couple of years ago. It has been fun to welcome them back and renew our friendship with them.

In other news, I finally had Scott do my measurements last night. I was afraid because I didn't want to be disappointed. It turns out that I have lost 9 inches, including 3 alone on my hips. I was thrilled. So much so that I got up early this morning to go to the gym before Scott left for work. I am going to try to do the same thing tomorrow.

Great job on losing 3 inches off your hips--that's amazing.
