Here are some of those things that I thought, I just have to blog about that. Granted this is mostly all old news, but it is better than nothing.
We have gone to my Dad's house for Easter the last couple of years. My step mom always makes the cutest bunny cake. I attempted to make one this year. I think it turned out pretty cute despite my lack of cake decorating skills.
Scott's birthday was on Easter so it doubled as a birthday cake too.Have you ever wondered what happens to a Peep when you put it in the microwave? Me neither, until Scott heard on the radio that after a few seconds they blow up. Imagining peep all over my microwave and being the serious and ever eager to learn adults that we are, we gave it a try. Here I present our results:
Before.....
After.....
After, after....
Speaking of Easter, my kids left me scrambling this year when they started asking me questions about the Easter bunny. I was proud of myself for my quick thinking. Upon picking up the 999,999,999,999,999th piece of Easter grass off the floor I was able to prove without a doubt the existence of the Easter bunny by saying this: "Do you really think that I would fill your baskets full of this stuff on purpose?" They stopped asking questions after that.
Do you remember the puppy love post I did awhile back? In February our worst nightmare happened. We lost the beloved puppy. At first I wasn't convinced that it wasn't hidden away somewhere in the abyss in the twin's room where it often ends up. After several days, and countless nights of tears, I finally broke the news to Megan that the puppy was probably gone for good. I imagined it had been left behind somewhere, but by the time I realized it wasn't at home I couldn't remember where we had been. I admit that I believe this incident, though traumatizing to Megan, was even more so for myself. I wasn't ready to let go of such a special part of Megan's growing up life.
Nearly a month after the puppy had gone missing I was speaking to the lady that runs the scout shop here in town. At the end of our conversation she happened to ask me if Megan was missing a stuffed animal puppy. Evidently, when I had gone to buy the Badge Magic for Jordan' s cub scout uniform, Megan had found some little toys to play with. She set her puppy down on a lower shelf behind the toys and had left it behind. It would still be there today if not for my sister-in-law who had noticed it one day when she went to the scout shop. That night Megan was reunited with her beloved puppy. We have made a new rule that it doesn't leave the house unless we are leaving the house overnight.
Last of all, this Friday marks my 90th day without chocolate. In celebration my husband is taking me out. Guess what I will be ordering for dessert? All this time I had intentions of earning an i-pod, but now that the time is finally here I am not sure that I really want to spend the money on that or something else. The possibilities are endless! The jury is still out.
Stay tuned for my next post, hopefully it won't be another two weeks....

18 people have something to say:
good for you for paying attention to the other things in life besides blogging. (there are other things in life!? just kidding of course) I'm finding myself taking a little less time to blog and spending more time rolling on the floor with the kiddos. thank goodness for naptime or I wouldnt ever be online!
So glad that you had a puppy reunion! and congrats on so long without the sweet wonders of chocolate. You have VERY strong willpower!
Your sister-in-law has good eyes!! That must have been a very happy reunion for Megan! I can only imagine what it would be like if Isabel lost her beloved stuffed dog. Life will not be good for anyone in our house when that day comes. :)
How awesome that you've made it 90 days sans chocolate! Yes, I'm speaking as though the days are completed....because you've come this far and I know you can endure a couple more days. :) Wow, you get chocolate AND a date with your husband! Double score! :)
Aww, I love the puppy love story! So glad she got it back:)
I think we would all be better off we we spent a little less time on the computer. However, it's great to hear from you!
Yeah for the puppy!
Good for you for the chocolate feat and spending less time on the computer!
As for easter grass, instead of using it, I actually just get brightly colored tissue paper and crumple up a piece or two and stick it in the bottom of the baskets. Looks cute and works great without all the mess.
I can't believe you went 90 days with out chocolate. You are a stronger woman than I am!
It's good to hear from you again. :o)
90 days??? That's awesome Amanda! I am so impressed!!
YAY for finding the lost puppy!
No worries about having old news. Since I haven't been around for awhile, it's new news to me!
Can I just say how clean your microwave looks. I could never post a picture of the inside of mine, for the shame alone of how it looks.
I'm glad you found Megan's puppy. I imagine her eyes must have just lit up when she saw it again.
I can't believe that you've gone so long without chocolate! Have fun deciding what your reward will be!
Ah, See? I don't want to dissuade you from staying away the Blog animal (as you said, it's almost like you want to be on the computer all day) but let me point out that we knew about the badge magic and puppy love because of blogging.
Yeah, my brain works weird like that.
An dthat probably made no sense either.
Anyway.
90 days is a loooong time! Way to go.
:)
Yea for lost puppies found!
I love your grass comment. I may have to use that next year :)
The cake looks great!
I can't believe the puppy was found.
I also can't believe you went without chocolate for 90 days. That is amazing. Good for you!
I'm glad you found the puppy!
I don't like chocolate... so it's been hundreds of days for me... does that count? :)
So happy you found the puppy!! And really happy for your success without chocolate. I need a motivation like that!
Being on the computer all day is not a good thing. You are doing the right thing--though it is fun to hear from you! :)
Yea for the puppy! I can't believe you found it. Poor Megan!
I'm so impressed with your chocolate fast! You are impressive!
I like not being tied to my blog. Sometimes I have a lot to say, sometimes I don't. And that's okay!
Cute Bunny Cake!
I have done the peep in a microwave thing...at work years ago.
Congrats on 90 days!! What strength!!
I am EXACTLY the same way about blogging! I used to blog reguarly but I spent hours a day on the computer, meanwhile, my house fell apart. So now, I only blog sporadically but I still find myself doing the same things you metioned...I still think I should blog this or get take this picture for my blog, ect. :)
Your bunny cake is adorable! I am glad you amazingly found Megan's lost lovey! Have fun spending your chocolate money!
