Check out my amazing skillz

I don't sew. At all. I took a sewing class in junior high and I am not sure why I didn't fail. Early on in our marriage I convinced Scott to buy me a sewing machine. (Luckily he only bought me a used one and didn't fork out the money for a brand new one!) I wanted to be able to sew curtains, clothes for my kids and any other thing I could think of to sew. I gave it my best shot and then I decided that sewing is just not my thing. When Scott was off work from his accident he pulled out my sewing machine and cleaned off the dust and cob webs and put it to good use. He made himself a fancy back pack for hiking as well as a couple of other things. He sews better than I do. In fact recently our "mending pile" was getting a little large and he pulled out the sewing machine and got busy.

When Jordan started cub scouts I nearly had a panic attack when it came to sewing on his badges. After lots of tears, a few not so nice words mumbled under my breath, and even more picking out of stitches and resewing I was done. Finally! All was good in the world until a year later he earned his wolf badge as well as his Faith in God award. Ahhh, more sewing!! That was 6 months ago. They still haven't been sewn onto his uniform. I just couldn't force myself to go through the same torture all over again.

Then I found my life and sanity saving friend

I would like to kiss the person who came up with this ingenious idea!!!!!!!!! Muuwwwwaaaa!

Step one: Remove crooked badges. If you look below the pocket you can see where I originally placed his bobcat badge. I nearly choked my son lovingly thanked my son when he pointed out that I had put it in the wrong place. You see, when I finally got around to sewing everything on the first time I did not want anything to fall off and have to do it again so, being the really smart person that I am, I used an extra small stitch to ensure that these babies were not coming off. I didn't consider the fact that I might want to take them off for some reason.

Step two: Use the Badge Magic only after checking, rechecking and re-rechecking to make sure that everything is where it is supposed to be.

Then viola! The finished product. Now he can earn all the badges he wants. Bring it on! If only I could do something about that mark left from my original boo-boo....

I am in love with Badge Magic! The only problem is that I have drive to another town to the Girl Scout store to get it. Bummer!

Oh, I also like your labels for this post....'non talents'....hahaha :)

O.K. I haven't a clue about badge magic--and I have had 4 boys go through the Scouting problem and I HATED SEWING on those badges!!! (In fact, one year when we had a fund raiser one of the women was "selling" her services of sewing on badges. I BOUGHT IT IMMEDIATELY!!!

Reason 476 I don't have boys. I can't sew and always worried about those danged badges.
I want to know what it is. Super-duper super glue?

I found some patch attach when my boys were going through scouts. It was my best friend.

Glad I don't have to worry about that anymore.

deanne: I only wish I would have known about this stuff when Jordan first started Scouting. :(

yvonne: I would be all over having someone else sew them on too! What a clever idea! :)

nikko: I wish I had your amazing sewing talent! I meant to put a link in my post.

NCS: My sentiments exactly!!!!!!

elizabeth: Luckily I only have one boy to have to deal with this. See the link in nikko's comment.

I, too, am a non sewer. My GIRLS were in karate when we lived in PA and they earned stars and patches and I had to sew those suckers on and I KNOW all the feelings you have described. I wish wish wish I had known about this. Many times they went to testing with saftey pins on their patches. I always waited until the last possible moment, too.

My hubby has been the mender, too. But he has never sewn a fancy backpack!! Very cool!

I do sew, and I can't stand ewing those things on!

I need to get me some of that.

About 15 minutes before my brother's Eagle court, my mom realized that she hadn't sewn on any of his merit badge patches.
She stapled them on!
They looked great, and no one noticed.

I like sewing, but badges are the worst! Nathan has completely taken over sewing on his rank, though I worry about my machine when he sews through all those layers of heavy camo...

It will be a few years before I have to worry about cub scout badges, but I'm lovin' the badge magic!
