I still remember and I'm still thankful

Since I missed Memory Monday and Gratitude Tuesday I thought I'd do make up Wednesday. lol

Memory Monday: It was 6 years ago yesterday that Scott cut his hand at work. I already blogged about this a couple of months ago. So I won't bore you again with the details. Let's just say it was a major event in our lives that has had a lasting effect on our lives. As a result, for Valentines Day last year my husband gave me the gift of a life insurance policy on him. I know, very romantic. He jokes that he is now worth more to be dead than alive. I don't find that very funny! He has also made sure that he is insured in case of another work related or other type of accident. If for some reason something was to happen to him we would be taken care of. That is one of the biggest lessons that we learned from that experience is being prepared for the unexpected.

This leads me right into Gratitude Tuesday. I am so grateful for the many blessings that we received that year when Scott was unable to work for the majority of the year. Despite the physical challenges that he faced as well as the financial difficulties it was a great year. We were blessed by loving family members who generously helped us when we were unable to help ourselves. I was able to get a job as a pharmacy technician again after nearly 3 years of not working. We were able to travel to Arizona and Colorado and spend some quality time with family instead of making a quick visit. Scott was able to be home with the kids (Jordan was 2 1/2 and the twins were 9 months old at the time of Scott's accident) and spend some real quality time with them. This quality time included learning that Spaghetti O's leave skid marks when thrown and that our little girls loved climbing. He was a great sport and really enjoyed being Mr. Mom.

Well I have company coming today so I have much I need to get done. My nephew Chris is recieving his Eagle Scout Award tonight and my in-laws are here from Arizona. They will be spending tonight and tomorrow with us. I am skipping the gym today so I can get everything all done. I figured I could get a good work out from cleaning my house.

Nathan says congratulations Chris! Way to go! Wooo Hoooo!

I, too, am thankful for life insurance, but I sure hate filling out all that info about who takes the kids if you both die, etc. Gives me bad dreams.

Clean the house. Mmmm. Maybe i should try that...

Thanks for the reminder that sometimes blessings don't seem like blessings at the start. Enjoy your company

ITA with andrea. Isurance is not something anyone wants to talk about (including me) but necessary I guess.

Have a happy time with your in-laws and your clean house.
