In loving memory

Gordon Bitner Hinckley
1910-2008

As many of you, I was shocked and saddened to hear last night that President Hinckley had died. What a great man he was. His influence and example has been felt worldwide. It makes me sad that for most of the world they have no idea what an incredible man has just left this earth.

I loved President Hinckley's sense of humor as well as his love and zeal for life. He was a go-getter and accomplished more in just the last 13 years than most people do in an entire lifetime. I am grateful for his testimony and his service and for the help he has given me personally in my life, though I have never met him.

Today I find comfort in knowing that he is once again with the "girl of his dreams" and that the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints will continue to progress and move forward despite the loss of this beloved prophet of God.

I can't tell you how much your comment that most of the world has "no idea what an incredible man has just left this earth." I watched CNN before I left for Seminary and even tivo'd one of the morning shows--no word at all!!! Only a bit on Headline News.

I love the "girl of his dreams" reference. Thanks, Amanda.

What a sweet tribute. I love that last picture of the Hinckleys. One year we went to the Pioneer Day parade in SLC and saw President and sister Hinckley pretty close up, looking just like that. It was thrilling.

You are so right, here's an amazing man, The Lord's Prophet on earth...and most of the world has no clue.
