I wish that I could say I would be here.....
Instead, I'll be spending my weekend listening to and watching this.I always look forward to General conference. I think I first gained an appreciation for conference while serving my mission. I first arrived in Pennsylvania in early October 1996. My first church experience there was General Conference. I had never been anywhere where I couldn't just turn on the TV or the radio and have General Conference right there. Going to church to watch conference was a new experience for me. I think that was the first time that I really listened to all sessions of conference and I loved it.
Ever since that first General conference on my mission I always get the chills when the man comes on and says, "From Temple Square in Salt Lake City Utah..." or whatever it is he says. I love everything about conference. The speakers, the music, the pictures of temple square
and the lovely flowers. It just feels good and right and warm and fuzzy. So don't worry if you don't hear from me for the next couple of days. I'll be enjoying a spiritual feast while listening to our beloved Prophet, President Hinckley,
as well as other leaders. Speaking of spiritual feasts. If you missed the Relief Society Broadcast you can have a listen here, or do a little reading. The speakers were great and I love the new General RS Presidency. Each one of them is so different and each has something unique to offer to the sisters of the church. So if you missed it, go check it out. :)My kids also have Monday and Tuesday off from school, so I may not be back until Wednesday. I know what you are thinking, "But you promised Country music Monday and you haven't delivered!" Don't worry your country music loving selves, I'll make it up to you. :)
Have a great weekend!

21 people have something to say:
I'll be watching with you. It's been so long since I've lived somewhere where I can just turn it on the TV. I love going to the Stake Center and watching it. (When Brent was on his mission, I loved knowing we were all watching the same thing at the same time together!!!)
Enjoy
You have a beautiful testimony that I am in awe of.
It should be amazing like always!
I love conference!
Have a great weekend!
Why do they get Monday AND Tuesday off? Is Columbus from South Dakota?
Hope you enjoyed a long extended weekend with your family!
I wish I was watching. We didn't get it up here in the Motherland and can't wait to catch up on it all upon my return!
hi amanda:
so cute how you did this post. i love conference, too, and feel so lucky that we can read the talks on the computer and the ensign the month after.
you rock, kathleen :)
I'll just be here pouting and doing the Cotton-Eyed Joe to occupy my time until you bring forth Country Music Monday.
I get chills when the announcer says that, too. But it's because I had him as a religion teacher at BYU and he was TOUGH! Probably one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. I can't listen to conference without thinking of him.
Are you still playing? How is it that you got two days off in October? The elementary/junior high had off Monday, but the high school-tough as nails-they all had school. No days off! Work work work!
Yay for Conference! Wasn't it fantastic? :D
Have a fun couple of days off! Hopefully you're back on by Wednesday! :)
:) I love that picture of the temple.
The Prophet is the bestest ever!
Hope you had a super awesome time!!!!
And suddenly... all was right with the world.
Conference was great, wasn't it? :)
Brillant. Why didn't I come up with that?!
*see Millie
Great post. You know you're my favorite.
(Even though I usually just lurk)
You have a gift my friend don't hide it in a bushel basket.
I used a Mork and Mindy lunchbox when I was a child. It made me the person I am today.
Amanda, I miss you!!! Come back soon! :)
I loved conference. I felt like it was the best one yet. I felt so uplifted and spiritually fed...we are so blessed to be members of this church.
so agree with lauren -- we are soooo blessed to be :)
