Thursday 13 - things we learned this school year

With the end of another school year rapidly approaching I thought I would review some of the things we have learned this school year.

1. Riding the bus is totally awesome!

2. While riding the bus your children will be exposed to and learn even more undesirable words and/or behaviors than before.

3. Elementary kids drink coffee. Gasp!! I was shocked when my kids mentioned this the first time, now I am aware of a handful of their classmates that can't make it through the morning without coffee to 'help wake them up'! Are you kidding me?? I so could get on soapbox about this one....maybe another day.

4. [edited to keep bad people from finding me] is bad. The twins recently came home from school and told me "Cameron said he wanted to [edited] with me". Another GASP! He said What?? For obvious reasons we have encouraged the girls to play with other kids at school, Not Cameron.
5. Letting Megan play with library books is bad.
6. Reading is totally awesome!
7. Jordan wants to be a scientist or engineer.
8. Gymnastics on Tuesday nights is a bad idea!
9. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are BUSY days!
10. Girls can be very mean for no good reason.
11. I'm not looking forward to hormone, raging teenagers. Weepy, moody first graders are bad enough.
12. Mrs. Johnson is nicer after she got her braces off. Jordan had a few problems with this teacher. I am not just siding with my son because he is my son, she is ornery with a capital O. If a kid so much as looks at another kid the wrong way she could unexpectedly bite your head off. A little too hot headed for a teacher, in my opinion . Apparently she has been much nicer since she got her braces off, or maybe it was because of the phone call I made to the school about the same time. Hmmm...
13. My kids are growing up far too quickly for my liking!! It seems like just yesterday they were like this..

and this..
Now they are getting so big.

It's those kind of experiences that make me seriously consider homeschooling. I think the time to do it is between 6th and 9th grades for girls--those seem to be the meanest years :)

Oh wow, you just popped my little imagination bubble that said the frontiers of South Dakota were safe from the same school problems we have in the big, bad city.

Everything you just listed plus an ineffective, couldn't be bothered administration, facilitated our plunge into the world of homeschooling.

Oh, and lest you think I'm all about the doom and gloom...your kids are super cute!

Girls can be so mean and vindictive! Worse (as you mentioned) for no reason whatsoever :P
Those pictures are adorable, they are getting so big, too fast.
Cameron & X-E-X. Stay away girls, that boy is Trouble. Probably drink coffee too :)

It hurts the heart a bit, doesn't it? So much to look forward to, so much to dread!

Coffee? Are you serious? That is crazy. What's next?

Love the baby pictures. Kids DO grow up way too fast.

Coffee? You're kidding! XEX??? Is that really what he called it? Regardless, that's still scary that these kids are dealing with this kind of stuff so early.

Such sweet pictures of your kids! You're right, they do grow up too fast. That's too bad that Jordan's teacher was so ornery. We've dealt with that in the past too and it's not fun for the kids. At all.
Hopefully, you'll have better luck next year!

XEX.. great. it's probably just the coffee talking...

Your kids are great! I love those pictures!

I really like this. I might have to steal it for next thursday, which is our last day of school!

So far we have had very good teachers, I'm nervous for the day when we get the bad one.

Kids do grow too fast, sigh.

Thank you for the "Good Mail" I opened two in one day, such a good feeling it is!
