Home again, home again....

We got back from Utah on Thursday evening. We got snow on the way down and again on the way back. The roads were pretty nasty on the way home. Not so much from the amount of snow as they were just really slick. We decided that is the most cars and diesels that we have ever seen off the road. We were so thankful that we made it home without any problems.

We had a wonderful Christmas. I admit I was more than a little bit grouchy about the idea of having to drag our entire Christmas down there, which was a chore, but wasn't as bad as we anticipated. It was well worth it to see my family. In the last two months we have seen our entire family, both my side and Scott's side, with the exception of my Dad and his wife. They live in Denver and that was just not an option as far as Christmas goes with the snow. I was able to see the rest of my family, including my sister from Mississippi and aunts, uncles and cousins, that I was not able to see in September. It was a wonderful time. I have decided however that our newest Christmas tradition is to stay home for Christmas. I can visit with my family in July next time rather than December. We were happy however to have a white Christmas. It didn't snow a bit here until we got home. The next morning we woke up to an inch of snow.
Highlights from our Christmas vacation in Salt Lake City Utah.
This picture was taken Sunday afternoon after church on Christmas eve. My sister Jenni and her husband live in Mississippi. This was his first time seeing Megan and the twins. It's been that long since we've seen him. Do you see the beautiful mountains in the background? I miss the mountains of Utah so much.
Kaylynn wanted a katar (translated: guitar) for Christmas. I don't know where this idea came from, but she talked about it all the time. Well Santa came through. This is her expressing her absolute joy in getting a katar for Christmas.
This is my 4 children with their great-grandfather. He will be 95 on Megan's birthday next month. He is a great man whom I look up to a lot. In the background is a picture of Betsy, who passed away in September.
A trip to SLC would not be complet without eating at Hires. They, in my opinion have the best hamburgers in the world. I heart Hires Big H.
We were able to view the Joseph Smith movie at the Joseph Smith memorial building the day after Christmas. The movie was very good. A tear jerker though. Afterwards we got some cute pictures of all the grandkids by the temple.

Welcome home! I miss Utah mountains too. I also heart Hires. When the one in Provo closed while we were at school, we had to make a few trips to SLC to eat there. Their rootbeer is marvelous too!

I love the picture of the grandkids in front of the temple! How cute!

I love Hires! Can you believe I've lived here for almot 4 years, and haven't been there the whole time. I forgot about it. I know where I'm going. Sounds like you had a fun vacation, but it's always nice to get home.

My son decided Christmas morning that he wanted a "kitar!" And wouldn't you know it, my sister read his mind...even before he knew he wanted it! :)
