Gratitude Tuesday - Home at last

Phew!! What a week it has been. We got home late last night. Around 12:00. We left Arizona at 2:00 pm on Sunday afternoon. What a long drive that was! We decided to go home a different way this time. Big mistake!! We usually take I-40 to Albuquerque and then follow I-25 through Colorado into Wyoming. This time we turned north at Gallop and headed towards Durango Colorado where we spent the night Sunday. On the map it looked like a shorter, quicker alternative. We forgot to figure in the thousands of mountains they have in Colorado and the thousands of resulting hills, valleys, turns, and curves that come with the thousands of mountains in Colorado. It turns out this way is NOT faster and not only that, it leads to more car sickness. We did however come very close to a payne's home of Fruita, Colorado. We drove to Grand Junction only to realize that we missed the turn we were looking for to take us to I-70. Oops. It was a very beautiful ride home though.

Today I am grateful:
- to be home. We had a wonderful visit with Scott's family. We spent a couple of days in Holbrook, a couple of days in Snowflake, and a couple of days in the Phoenix area. It is nice to be home again though.

- for a nice warm house. We were lucky enough to spend some time in the very warm Phoenix area. I think I even complained that it was too warm and that I longed for our cooler home. Well it is definitely cooler. High of 27 expected today, doubt we'll get there. Oh to be in Phoenix again. sigh.

- for our car. After all that driving it was nice to have reliable transportation.

- for digital cameras. We took a gazillion pictures.

- my in-laws. All 47 of them. I can honestly say that I love them all. Even with their quirks and faults, because after all, not everyone can be perfect like me. ;) They were all generous hosts and took great care of us.

- a generous new brother-in-law who treated us all (the adults that is) to a lunch at PF Chang's. What a treat that was! This same brother-in-law is also the CFO of this restaurant chain. So though extremely generous of him, it really wasn't a hardship. We spent one night at their home in Scottsdale, can you say mansion?

- my computer. I missed being able to check my email and bloglines.

Well there is much more to be said and written, perhaps tomorrow. Right now I need to somehow find my laundry room amidst the mounds of laundry we brought home.

I missed you :(
I'm all like "when is Amanda coming back?"

Sounds like you had a fun trip. Your high is 27? Wow, that's is cold compared to Phoenix.

I love driving through pretty scenery and beautiful country.
The part no ones likes about getting back home after a long trip is putting things away and doing the laundry. I'm especially bad at this, since I feel those tasks must be done immediately upon entering my home...drives my familia crazy.
But you take it easy ok, no one should be as crazy as me.

Glad you are back and happy :)

I bet you're glad to be back.
Although vacations are so much fun, it seems we need a vacation from vacation.

I'm with NCS! I'm so glad you're back and I missed getting to read your posts. How fun that you got to spend time with your in-laws.

I love driving through Colorado! It is so beautiful. Hopefully, the car sickness wasn't too terrible.

Are you going to post some of your gazillion pictures for us?

Good luck with your mountain-o-laundry! :)

That's a STINKIN' LONG drive, Batman! Wow! I know I'm ALWAYS glad to be home after a long trip like that...not that I don't love the trips, but there's no place like home! (Highs of 27 are NO fun tho!) :P

I wish I would have known you were coming through. I would have made the generous offer of taking you to lunch at HFM's favorite place The Hot Tomato Cafe.

You blew through just in time, we got 8 inches of snow today.

Welcome home! There's nothing like sleeping in your own bed after a long trip away.

becca: yes, the bed was a welcome sight!

a payne: We didn't know we would be coming through that way until Monday morning. I'll have to meet you for lunch another time. :D I'm glad we missed the snow.

dawnyel: Yes it was a stinkin long drive. Actually the high yesterday never made it out of the teens. Add in the wind chill and it was below zero outside.

mary: The chinese food was SO yummy! I want more.

suzanne: It is nice to be missed. I will post some pictures today. I'm having a hard time deciding which ones. I have 183 to choose from. Luckily the car sickness wasn't too bad.

txmommy: Thanks, I need a lot of luck to get through this laundry. I am a new lover of PF Chang's. I'll have to see if my BIL can pull some strings to get one here.

utmommy: A vacation from a vacation is a great idea. It is nice to be home.

NCS: I had no idea I would be so missed. Thanks! I am usually crazy like that too. But I managed to hurt my back while on vacation so I am taking it easy.
