Sure, it starts out all innocent and then...

Multiply this adorable little girl by 2 and add one equally adorable, (but don't tell him I said that) little boy and you have BIG trouble.

Sure it started out innocent. "Would you like to buy some cookie dough for our school fundraiser? It will help us get new play ground equipment for our school?" Sure I say.

This is our third year of buying cookie dough. The kids get prizes based on the amount they sell. The first year it was just Jordan. Easy enough. The last two years the twins have been selling it too. We let the kids do the selling to people we know of course, and then we would order some so that they all sold equal amounts. This means they would each earn the SAME prizes and therefore we would have less fighting over prizes. Well this year selling was harder so guess what?? Mom and Dad end up buying 5 tubs ourselves. This may seem like a small sacrifice considering the cuteness factor and they are actually our children. So what is the problem you ask.
This.....X FIVE!!!

They might as well sell it with a spoon and one of those stretchy pant thingies cuz my pants aren't going to fit once I am done eating all those cookies. That is if they even make it past the cookie dough stage.

So be on the look out for cute looking children who are secretly trying to ruin your healthy living goals. They may come dressed as Girls Scouts too.

I am so with you! It is hard to tell your kids no, you also don't want your kids to be the only ones without the stupid prize!

I do not envy your winters, ours are bad enough!

Good thing winter is coming (or it's already there on your side of the country): those baggy sweaters are a big help.
I hear you sister, it's so tough to keep our healthy eating goals when there's a big old of cookie dough tub around (5 of them).
BTW, do you know cookie dough is delicious? YUM!

If you freeze them, it is harder to chip off a bite. I don't like raw dough, but I do love fresh hot melty chocolate chip cookies. I may have to go bake up a few...

Our 3 tubs are half gone.

susie, it IS hard to tell them no, and the prizes really are lame.

NCS, I must go sweater shopping!

wendy, freezing them is the only way to go! :)

Cookie dough is the BEST. When they came up with cookie dough ice cream, I was in 7th heaven.

Fortunately we've never had cash on hand to buy those little tubs whenever the kids came to the door... and our kids tend to get different fund-raisers (not cookie dough)...

That cookie dough looks SO GOOD. I love the dough better than the resulting cookies...good thing it's not in my house!

I think our parents ended up buying cases of crappy candy bars and hollow chocolate easter bunnies and whatever else the schools sent kids out as cheap laborers to sell when we were kids!

Amanda, (I've been reading secretly for a while now, one of Wendy's sisters) my kids came home yesterday with cookie dough and magazine fliers. The triple chocolate cookie dough has been calling my name! With 2 now selling the stuff, it adds up a lot quicker now!
By the way, want to buy a magazine?

Yum!!! I love cookie dough!...and brownie batter and muffin batter! It's a wonder I haven't gotten salmonella yet.

I agree that it's hard when the kiddies bring home fund raisers. We got a Happenings Book, but that's something we could use. I draw the line at one item per child, but I do like to support them and the school.

How fun that Heather is reading (she is my next older sister and we look the most alike. She is way cool and used to let me hang around her way older and very coolio friends.)

I just wanted to mention that Sydney was devistated that I didn't let her go door to door so she couldn't get a really cool prize like a red pen necklace.

Last year Hannah brought home a tacky fund raiser and I sent back a note and $10 donation. Sometimes I wish they would just come out and say "if each family donates $10 we won't have to sell any gummy bears or wrapping paper."

Millie - yum, cookie dough ice cream. Must buy some now....

Mary - the dough requires so much less work.

Hi Heather! - I guess it is a McBride sister envasion. ;) Sounds fun! Thanks for coming out of the closet.

Suzanne - now happenings books I could use.

Wendy, I agree. That would be so much easier sometimes.

I HATE (Yes, I'm yelling it!) fundraisers!! I never did any selling when I was in school, and I don't really want my son to do it! Why can't we just send $10 to the school and say, "There! We've supported the school...don't send home those cheesy prize things or the magazines with all of the crap you want our kids to sell!!"
Okay, now that I'm done ranting...way to keep your kids from doing the whole door-to-door thing...even tho it makes it so you have to buy that pants stretcher thing! :)

I bought a box of chocolate covered almonds the other day, and was immediately transported back in time to Grade 8 - when I had to sell them to fundraise for band. I paid $70 of my own money because I scarfed a whole crate of 'em!

i'm a bad mom, I HATE fundraisers. I'd rather just hand over $20 and be done with it.
You're nice to buy so much cookie dough, at least you can eat it. Our school likes to do the wrapping paper for $8 a roll. What a rip off!

I'm with TXmommy, I don't do fundraisers. Once I was the fundraising chairperson at out elementary school's PTO for 3 years. Never bought one thing.

You are a good mom :)
