I haven't done a Friday feast in a long time. Evidently the "chef" is on an extended vacation so I found this old feast on her site.....Appetizer
When someone smiles at you, do you smile back?
Yes, I try to smile back. When I was in 8th grade I had just recently moved to Salt Lake City. I was very shy and had a hard time making friends. I had one friend that told me one time that I had a really nice smile that made my face light up and that I should try and smile more. This meant so much to me at the time and has stuck with me. Since then I have always tried to have a smile on my face, no matter how I was feeling inside.

Describe the flooring in your home. Do you have carpet, hardwood, vinyl, a mix?
We have a mix of carpet and vinyl. Vinyl in the bathrooms, laundry room and kitchen and carpet everywhere else. I've always wanted to have hardwood floors. I think they look so nice.

Do you know anyone whose life has been touched by adoption?
Yes! My sister Jenni and her husband and their beautiful daughter Katie.
Jenni and Richard adopted Katie a little over a year ago. Jenni has known all her life that she was unable to have children and this has been a very painful reality for her. After being married for several years and not being able to adopt for a myriad of reasons, I think that Jenni had given up on her dream of becoming a mother. Unexpectedly, in the spring of 2007 Katie came into their lives. As a new family they have had many struggles and challenges as well as many wonderful blessings. I am so thrilled that they have finally been blessed with the opportunity to be parents. I am also thrilled to have Katie be apart of our family. She is a sweet, sweet girl and it was so fun to finally meet her this summer when we went to Utah. We love you Katie!! :)

In other news, tonight (or tomorrow morning to be exact) I am planning to go to the midnight release of Breaking Dawn. I have managed to coerce a couple of friends to join me. Anyway, tonight Scott was asking me about it....
Scott: So what is going to happen tomorrow night? Are you going to hang out on the street corner until you get your book?
Amanda: (shocked) No! I'm not a street corner kind of girl!
Silly, silly boy. In reality we will probably be staying only long enough (at the bookstore, not a street corner) to get our books and go home and go to bed....that is if I can put the book down long enough to get some sleep.

10 people have something to say:
I think I've done this feast before.
smiles - I totally smile back. Actually, I'm usually the smile insttgator? and it hurts my feelings if I don't get a return smile.
floor - high school tile. ugly institutional flat tile. It is terrible. I hate it. We also have bound carpet remnants in the bedrooms and living room.
What were we wishing? just 4 sorry...
I don't know if our local Borders is doing a midnight release. I'll wait and pick it up on Saturday if it's available. I guess I should have pre-ordered...no spoilers please...
I liked this feast!!
I am taking my 14 yr old sister to the Breaking Dawn release party. We both pre-ordered our books from Overstock.com so we won't even be buying the book... unless I give in and buy it anyway and then return my other one to the store. Hmmm....
That was a great friday feast--loved the story about your smile. I'm so happy for your sister and her husband and, of course, for Katie.
Not sure what Heidi and I are doing about Breaking Dawn. (My copy is being picked up by a friend in Winnipeg--but don't think I can wait 2 weeks ; )
hi amanda ~
way awesome about your sister and her family adoption! that's beautiful.
and your smile is a draw to your blog, girl.
you rock, kathleeybeany :)
PS. glad you get to have your vamp fix soon, tee hee. then you will be smiling EVEN MORE!
oh yea, and i am a big time smiler!! can't help it! see?
:)
there's one for you!
Great Friday Feast! You do have a great smile (from pictures on here of course)
I'm so glad for your sister!
Have you finished the book yet? I have read the first three and enjoyed them, but actually forgot the fourth was coming out this weekend until I read this (and NCS's). I guess I'm not a big enough fan :) (GO JACOB!)
My carpet is NAS-TAY! Why home builders would put carpet in a city that gets 100 percent humidity most of the year is beyond me. I'm to the point where we can't afford anything to replace the carpet but I'm thinking about just ripping it up and staining the concrete foundation.
Or I could just go totally white trash like a great Aunt of mine who put that bristly indoor/outdoor carpet stuff in her house. It was brick red. :0
You do have a great smile Amanda! Thanks for sharing it so often.
I had fun hanging out on the "street corner" with you! Thanks for the invite and for letting me borrow Twilight. It was awesome! I am hooked! Can a borrow the second one too?
You really do have a great smile, Amanda! Have you gotten through the book yet??? I just finished about a half an hour ago... :D
Hope you had fun at your party!!!
