Friday Feast - September 7

Appetizer
Using only one word, how does grocery shopping make you feel?
Tired.

Soup
What is your favorite part about the season of Autumn?
There are so many things that I like, I don't know where to start. I like the cooler temperatures and the feeling in the air that something has changed. I love the colors of fall and the smell in the air. I love pulling out my warmer clothes and cozying up in a warm sweater. I love that hot chocolate season is just around the corner. Despite my love of Autumn, I do dread what is coming....winter.

Salad
Have you ever had any bad experiences online?
Yes. This is a long answer, so I won't be offended if you want to skip to the next question. When I first started blogging I was looking for other women bloggers who shared similar interests as mine. I did a little searching and came across a blog by a woman who was obviously very devote Christian and wrote a lot about 'keeping your home'. She had a lot of readers that asked her questions and then she would answer them. They would ask anything from tips on nursing your infant and home birthing to which religions were good and which were bad. Evidently a lot of people think her advice was like doctrine or something. I started reading and started commenting.
A few days later someone asked a question about tithing. Others had given their opinions so I gave mine. A couple of days later someone asked a question about catholics. Her response was mean spirited and judgemental. Basically saying that Catholics were deceived, blah blah blah. This riled me a little seeing as how I have plenty of my own experience being told that I am deceived blah blah blah. So I stuck up for one of her readers who said she was catholic and thought that her answer was a little harsh. I mentioned the fact that I was LDS and her wrath was then unleashed upon me. She made a couple of mean spirited remarks towards me and suggested a website for her readers to go to to find out the truth about Catholics and Mormons. I checked out the website. It was so bad, I didn't know if I should laugh or be offended. They had taken the truth and completely distorted it and added a few of their own thoughts to make it totally ludicrous. I commented on her blog again about how false this particular website was and how if someone wanted to know the truth this wasn't where they should look. She uses comment moderation on her posts and I don't know how, but she only posted a portion of my comment. The portion that she posted did not represent me the way that I had intended my comment to be, so I deleted it. I sent her another comment, knowing that she wouldn't post it, telling her what I thought about it.
She was about to give birth to a baby so I would periodically go back to see if she had had her baby. I wanted to offer my congratulations and show her that I was a decent person. A few days after I sent my last comment she posted this.

Hi Susan (name has been changed to protect the accused),
I just wanted to let you know that after some time of reading your blog and doing a lot of soul searching and bible reading that my husband and I have left the Mormon church! We have accepted Jesus as our savior! I cannot tell you what a joyful feeling it truly is! My husband and I pray daily that other LDS people will pick up the bible and read the truth for themselves and just look at what they are missing and how they are being mislead.
Thank you Susan for being such an open and honest person.

Praise God! There is rejoicing both on earth and in heaven for this woman and her husband.

I am pretty sure that she made this up. I just don't see a Mormon making this sort of comment. Plus I don't think it was any coincidence that she posted this shortly after I stopped commenting. Like it was supposed to be from me. It still makes my blood boil to think about it. Here is someone that a lot of people look up to for advice and counsel and she is totally spreading lies and being deceitful to her readers. Looking back on it I should have known better and just kept my mouth shut. I just couldn't help myself.

Main Course
Name three things that make you happy daily.
1. My husband and children 2. My faith 3. My blog friends 4. Chocolate (I couldn't resist adding one more)

Dessert
What one household cleansing or organizing item would you not want to be without?
Rubber gloves. I wouldn't want to scrub my toliet without rubber gloves and then go make dinner. Ewwwwwwww!

Still hungry? Go here for more Friday Feasts.

I really like this Friday Feasts idea. Sorry about your experience with the "mean" (I don't know what else to call her) woman. That is awful. I have tried very hard to be very careful where I visit and where I comment.

I love Autumn as well for many of the same reasons, and, like you, dread winter.

I laughed at your rubber gloves comment--I can't wear them so I go through lots and lots (and even more) anti-bacterial soap.

yvonne: I should have known better, but I really thought she was a nice lady at first. I should have just left and kept my mouth shut! I have germ-x at every sink and often use it after I use anti-bacterial soap. I'm a bit of a germ freak.

Great Friday Feast, Amanda.

That was a hard experience, I love how you handled it. While reading the "her" post, I thought...that is made up. Then you said it.
People amaze me, I'm sure she is basically good. She just has A LOT of growing to do;)

I would eat dinner at your house.
Have a great Friday!

Grrr... that mean lady makes me mad. Too bad there's a lot of "mean" people out there like her.
Chocolate...yummy.

pj: You are nicer than me saying that she is basically good....I have a lot of growing to do too obviously. Hey, I would love to have you over for dinner! :D

tori: mean people are not cool! Yay for chocolate! :D

Grocery shopping.....repetitive! That's how I feel, but I identify with 'tired' too.

I love your autumn favorites...chunky cozy sweaters and the smell in the cooler air....love it all!

Sorry to hear that the mean lady was, well, mean. I don't think one should give advice to others they don't really know like that. The internet can be a tricky place, and in this situation it is easy to offend others. I'm sorry you were hurt in the process. She talked of deceit and yet it appears that she was guilty of the very thing. Sad.

Rubber gloves....I'd have to go with Soft Scrub, I use it too much on lots of surfaces.

My blood would have boiled, too. You wouldn't have believed the rude comments I got when HBO's "Big Love" came out. Because don't you know--I am a polygamist?
:-)

deanne: I learned my lesson!

amber: I know you hide your sister wives...so the rest of us won't be jealous that you have someone to help with the housework.

Whooooa. Bad online experience, huh? Man. At least you were pretty decent about it, you really were. Good for you.

And of COURSE chocolate. How could the list be complete without it?

The whole religion bashing thing drives me nuts!! What an awful experience!

I have autumn fever and plan to post about it SOON! :-)

That online experience would be a hard one to forget!

I wouldn't have thought of the rubber gloves but they sure are mandatory, aren't they? I love the Mr. Clean sponge.

I loved this entry! One of my most favorites. I like the Friday Feast Idea.

Great, questions and answers.

Good hell for the online crap. Lawsy.

I love that you added chocolate, and I totally agree with rubber gloves!

Fantastic!

Autumn is my favorite season :)
I'm glad that early on-line experience didn't turn you off to Blogging.

I am so looking forward to Autumn. The pellet stove hasn't been used since it was cold last Spring. I love cozy warm fires.

Hey, how about that? I am happy when I interact with my hubby and kids, when I live my faith, and when I hear from my blog friends.

I don't use rubber gloves. I don't clean the toilet anymore, either. I have the "men" in the family do it. After all they are the ones getting it all yucky.

Have a good weekend.

I would've added chocolate too!

I learned very early in my online life to stay far, far away from Mormon haters. Even if I knew everything there is to know about Gospel Doctrine, which I don't, you can't win with these people because they'll manipulate your words for their own benefit.
