I don't know why I always cry on the first day of school. I miss my babies and pray that they will stay safe and learn lots of cool stuff at school.
On my list of things to do for this school year is to get back in the habit of going to the gym, learn how to crochet and to master the fine art of baking bread. It doesn't sound like much, but it is a start.

17 people have something to say:
As soon as I saw the turkeys I was making jokes in my head, and then you did it! Yea!
My older daughter is in 2nd grade this year, too. She came home today teaching me about fractions. I swear I'm going to have to take a remedial math course before she's in 4th grade.
Are we on for our breadmaking goal or what?!
I'm also getting back on the exercise wagon. :)
First day of school is bittersweet. I haven't cried yet, unless it was tears of joy! :)
Mmmmm.....homemade bread! Feel free to drop a loaf in the mail for me, anytime! :)
They are so grown up! Does it mean I'm not as good of person if I'm jumping for joy when they leave....
No doubt I could work on a thing or two.
Your kids are so grownup. Yeah, for new habits/hobbies:)
It's always so fun to send them off for new adventures.
So great that you have a list of things to do--good luck with them all. (Sounds like quite the list to me)
I always cry too. I cried on the way home and two guys walking their dogs caught me. "First day of school, huh?"
Hmm. I didn't cry either. I was happy to see them go! My oldest is in second grade, too!
I guess I suck because I didn't cry. I cried on Isabel's 1st day of kindergarten though. I do miss them.
I love the turkeys. And you the real turkeys too. (Ok, that wasn't as funny as it was suppose to be. It's the thought that counts.)
elizabeth: I saw the turkeys right before the kids ran out the door and I thought I have GOT to take a picture of that AND put it on my blog. :D I agree about the remedial math class. Yes, for the breadmaking goal. I think I'm going to have someone walk me through it. I've made bread before, but it just doesn't turn out right.
deanne: The tears didn't last long! It is bittersweet.
mel: No, I've been looking forward to them going to school for days now. I was actually surprised when I started to cry. I guess it is more realizing that they are growing up and not so much that they are going to school.
yvonne: It is fun and scary to send them out into the big bad world. :)
millie: I'm glad I'm not the only one that shed some tears. :)
nikko: As soon as the tears were gone, I was thrilled!
tori: You most definitely don't suck!! Really, I didn't cry that much. I thought your turkey joke was quite funny! :)
They are going to have such fun memories of riding the bus together, especially of the turkeys!
And don't you love the the way wild turkeys chatter together like old gossips or something?
Happy First day of School! Doesn't it feel like September should be the new year instead of January? I feel like that and no one in my house is in school!
Cute pictures - your little turkeys look so sweet!
I like your goals!
amanda,
me, too. as soon as i saw the wild turkey pic, i was making jokes in my head like elizabeth .. and then you beat me to it by labeling your kiddos as such.
very cool and very cute. happy for you, kathleen
they all look so cute! I hope you guys have a great year!!
Cute kiddos! And I love that you have wild turkeys to take pictures of!!
I am the loser because I never cry when my kids go to school. I only cry thinking about them being old enough to move away and go to college!
Baking bread is much easier with a Kitchen Aid Mixer. It does all the hard work for you.
I want wild turkeys going to school with my kids. That looks fun!
Oh cute! They even have a little "picture stand" and everything :)
Wild turkeys. Fun!
Or is it "picture pose"?
I always cry too. This was a darn fun post. LOVE the turkey's.
