So much to say, so little time....

I feel the weight of the world on me this morning as I prepare for the coming week. I'm leaving a week from today to spend 2 weeks in Utah and have a lot I need to get done before I can leave
  • make sure nursery class is covered for 2 weeks
  • finalize planning and delegate assignments for Enrichment Night for August since I won't be back until August
  • type up ward bulletin/sacrament meeting program for the 2 Sundays I will be gone
  • wash about 10 loads of laundry after our weekend getaway (see below)
  • feed missionaries tonight
  • babysit friends children tomorrow
  • Jordan's birthday on Wednesday
  • Enrichment night board meeting Thursday
  • Pioneer Day Concert Broadcast Friday
  • take kids swimming at least twice this week so I don't feel that I wasted our money buying swim passes after the summer was already a month over
  • grocery shopping
  • oh, and I can't forget to go Visiting teaching!

My mental breakdown last night while talking to Scott about all I have to do this week did little to convince him that I should be released from at least one of my 3 callings. I've told him several times that I would be happy to give up one of my callings to allow someone else to receive blessings from serving. He always smiles and says I'll share your concerns with the bishop in bishopric meeting. I think he only says that to appease me. I don't think he really says anything to the bishop.

At the beginning of the summer Scott and I sat down with the calendar and decided to block off some time that we could designate as family time only - no working in the garage, no working in the yard or cleaning the house - strictly family fun time. This past weekend was one of those times. We decided to take the family camping for the first time ever. Scott and I have been camping together and Jordan and Scott have been camping together, but we've never been camping as a family.

We found a perfect spot at Robaix Lake, a small lake in the black hills. Our campsite was about 100 yards from the lake. We were able to go fishing and swimming and had a wonderful time!

The view from our campsite. Kaylynn's first fishMom's first fish. I was fishing by myself after Scott left with the kids to head back to camp. I caught this fish and was unable to get the poor fishey off the hook. I had to carry it all the way back to our campsite. Luckily it was still breathing so Scott rescued him and Jordan ran him back to the lake.

Most of the fish we caught were too small to keep.

Hanging out by the tent for lunch

Kaylynn and Megan playing in the water Jordan, Kim and a friend that Kim made - looking for frogs Buried in the sand, which I learned was a bad idea when I ended up with sand in every part of my body.

We had a wonderul time, though the highlight of the weekend may have been the shower I got to take when we got home.

hi amanda: i feel for ya girl. hope the pressure eases soon. maybe the break will do you some good, too. the woods photo is awesome -- like a sacred grove on water. very cool mommy how you let them bury you in sand. i love that when little kids get up in testimony mtg and say they want to "bury" their testimony. so cute. i am back from our long motorhome road trip, got back middle of night, wiped out. part of my favorite trip moments were when we were in utah -- i want to go back. come and see me if you can. take care and chin up, kathleen :) safe trip!

Wow, you are a busy girl! Why three callings, is your ward tiny? That's a lot for one person, tell Scott I said that :)

Your camping trip looks totally fun!

I'd say you've earned at least one release. Bless your heart!

3 callings? You may be too holy for us to hang out. You rock Amanda!

Yep, I think 3 callings is a bit much. I'd say go to the Bishop directly! ;)

I love that picture of you buried in the sand! It almost looks like NCS just photoshopped your head to sit on the sand! LOL! :D

Looks like a lot of fun you all had as a family! Love the head shot

I had several callings in our last ward, it is challenging...to say the least

Your kids are so darling! I better not show Ian this post... he'll pressure me even more to start fishing! I hope to have a photo similar to yours soon... I just don't like fish... is that weird?
