I had a few comments and questions about what I said in my last post about having 3 callings in our ward. I wanted to explain a little more.
Our ward is a military ward and due to all the comings and goings and constant flux of our ward it is hard to keep positions filled. It is not uncommon for people to have more than one calling. People are always moving in or out or leaving while their spouse is deployed etc. Togive you an idea of how common change is in our ward - we have lived here for nearly 6 years, in that time we have had 3 different bishops and 5 different Primary presidents. I know the other auxiliaries have changed often too. Definitely keeps our ward interesting, fresh and exciting, not to mention a little stressful.
In all fairness my three callings aren't huge callings any of them. I'm a teacher in the nursery (stressful on Sunday, but not a difficult calling), I type the bulletin for sacrament meeting each Sunday (I believe I got this by default because hubby is in the bishopric and it is rather convenient!) and I am the Enrichment Night leader. The EN leader causes me the most stress because I am not a take charge sort of person. I would much rather be the one being told what to do than be the one telling everyone what to do. I am totally out of my comfort zone in this calling and it causes me a lot of anxiety. Hmmmm, perhaps that is why the Lord figured I needed it, to grow and learn. I'm fine with that, it just gets to be a little much sometimes between them all. I also know that Scott has talked to the bishop and there are no plans in the immediate future to change anything as far as I am concerned. Our Bishop is a great man and I know he is inspired and genuinely cares.
As long as Scott doesn't mind me being a basket case the month prior to Enrichment Night I guess we're all good. :)

7 people have something to say:
You still rock.
You are amazing, Amanda! Just because there is a need in a ward, doesn't mean people will necessarily step up and do more work, so I admire you for it! :)
I'm the EL too. It's a lot of work. Good for you for filling in where needed. You will be blessed because of it!
Sounds like your camping trip was a success. Sometimes I think the shower is the best part too!!
Ah the joy of small town living. I once had three callings when we lived in Kansas. I was 1st counselor in Primary, the chorister, and a Primary teacher.
From the time I was 12 -18 we were in an Air Force ward; the town's other ward didn't include the base, so our group had tons of turnover. I loved that because we got to meet so many people who had been all over the world. (We were one of the few non-military families, and consequently my dad was Bishop for a solid 5 years, and in the bishopric 2 years before that.) Change is constant for sure in the church. Something to think about---as EL, are there more things you could delegate? For me, I often don't want to because I want to make sure it gets done 'right', but allowing others the opportunity to succeed or fail on their own is good, too.
hi amanda: i think you rock! but you already know i think that about ya girl :)
hey, i agree with elizabeth. recommend you delegate more in the enrichment night. doesn't mean to totally give up everything, you just allow others to share in the blessings of service as well.
~blessings to you this night, kathleen :)
ps. and the head pic of you in the sand was so wild, my first thought was you must have just stuck this head over a picture of sand. way fun and yes, beautiful beautiful smile girl :)
