Our trip was great. So as not to bore you with all the details I'll do a little summing up of our trip.
- The dog. I have decided that I am just not a dog person. Though I grew up with dogs and I loved them, I just don't care for them now. They are hairy, slobbery, and they smell. The kids really liked Sadie though, and she seemed to like them too.
- Easter morning was more like Christmas morning with fresh snow and slippery roads. But the Easter Bunny still made it. Though he left the kids stuff in ziploc bags because
I neglected to buy easter basketsapparantly there was a shortage on easter baskets this year. - Easter service at my Dad's current church of choice was interesting. Maybe we would have a better attendance at our church if we served
coffeejuice and doughnuts to our parishioners. Dad and Jan are kind enough to attend church with us when they visit, so we attend church with them when we visit. Though I so badly wanted to run down the street to the local LDS church after I felt my "unruly" children were not welcome. I felt my kids were near perfect, but I kept getting looks from people around us. Apparantly kids are to be seen and not heard. At all. Though I do believe my stepmom made more noise than Megan each time she asked if she could take her out. I finally took her out about 15 minutes before it was over. - The bunny cake. This is our second time going to Denver for Easter. My step-mom has been making this bunny cake for years. Of course the kids love helping make it and I am happy to do my part in eating it.
- Dad and Jan were nice enough to watch the kids for me while I went to the Denver Temple which is less than 10 minutes from their house. I am so glad that I did this. It was a really neat experience. I got to drive Jan's car there, that was fun too.
- Saying goodbye is always hard to do. Especially when the only sunshine we got was the morning we left.

10 people have something to say:
Yay, you're home!!!!
I had a neighbor who went to the Lutheran church and I think they had a room for the children to go to while they had their main service (like Sacrament). Maybe people aren't used to kids in church anymore.
I am SO not a dog person either.
Glad you made it home safely.
Welcome back! And OH NO about the lack of sunshine. That is always how my trips home seem to turn out!
Sounds like a great trip- bummer on the no sun!
I don't like dogs either. I mean, they're ok, but it's like having a furry, stinky kid that sheds.
millie: I know a lot of churches, even my Dad's, have a place for the kids to go during services. My kids were not the only ones in there and I feel strongly that my children don't need to be babysat during church. Megan was really good I thought, but apparantly she made my stepmom uncomfortable. I need to be more respectful at their church I guess.
utmommy: Thanks! I especially don't like dogs inside. They belong outside.
amber: I was hoping for a sunny spring break weekend. Oh well. Maybe next year. :)
tori: LOL at the furry stinky kid that sheds. That is exactly what they are like. You still have to clean up their poop and everything too.
hi amanda: sorry to hear you didn't feel like your kids were welcome to be in your dad's church service. that sounds not very comfortable.
today during Sacrament, i reveled in being able to hold my friend's 1 year old during part of the service. he is a little happy angel most of the time and so fun to hold and smile with. i feel it a blessing to have the little ones (the whole families) in Sacrament and not routed off to some deserted island to be seen but not heard.
but you got to visit and you are doing a considerate thing by going to your dad's church when your family visits and vice versa.
happy Sabbath :)
There was a man in our ward that thought children shouldn't be in sacrament meeting because they were too loud. Now he's inactive because of it. I keep thinking, if he'd only focus on the spirit, rather than the noise, he might be active.
I am not a pet person at all. In fact, I detest even other peoples pets when I am pregnant.
Home again home again jiggety-jig!
Fun trip! Sorry about the church service, people can be so crotchety!
I'm not a dog person - they jump and make me nervous and, oh the hair! But my parents have a sweet dog that Lindsey and Rand just adored while we visited. So much so that it almost made me feel guilty for knowing I don't want a dog, but not guilty enough to actually consider getting one!
Fun trip! The snow makes it easy to follow those rabbit prints to the Easter Eggs!
ps - what a cute dog. I almost want another one.
I'm glad you had a good time on your trip! I'm not a dog person either...
