Random thoughts on a sunny afternoon

I don't know what has happened to me. I was real regular for awhile and now I just can't seem to find the time or find something interesting to blog about. Here are a few random thoughts.

The weather - Since I normally complain about how cold it is here I would like to inform you all that we are having a perfectly lovely day here. Right now we are sitting at 54 degrees, but it got up in the 60's earlier. Very spring like. Unfortunately it is all about to come to an end. By the weekend our highs are supposed to be back in the 20's which is still much better than what we had a couple of weeks ago.

My healthy living goals - I have lost 3 pounds. I haven't done any measurements to see if I have lost there. I am hoping that I would notice it there because I am a little disappointed that I have only lost 3 pounds. I've been going to the gym 4 to 5 days a week. I usually do the treadmill or elliptical for 30 to 60 minutes, plus I have been doing strength training for 30 minutes every other day. I quit going to the fun classes because I felt like I really needed to focus on getting a good cardio workout if I was going to lose some weight. I do feel good and my clothes seem to be fitting better and I am happy about that.

Speaking of the gym. On Saturday one of the regulars had a baby. She has been coming faithfully right up until she had her baby. Guess who was at the gym today, with her brand new baby. Call me old fashioned but I couldn't believe that she would be out so early with that new baby in the middle of winter. Not only that but she left him in the child care while she worked out. I am happy for her that she feels well enough after giving birth a mere 5 days ago to come to the gym, but leave that baby home. There is no reason to needlessly expose that baby to germs when he is still so young. -- okay stepping off soap box--

Girls night out - Tonight I am going out to Applebee's with some gals from church. I am looking forward to it. Maybe this is why my diet is not working. I have been to Olive Garden twice this month and now I am going out again tonight. I told you my husband had a lot of making up to do for missing my birthday. ;)

Movie review - We saw Dreamgirls last weekend. I was finally getting my birthday date so I picked where we ate and what movie we saw. I think my husband would have protested more had he known what Dreamgirls was about. Honestly I did not know it was a musical but it looked interesting to me. I actually really liked it. Jennifer Hudson formerly of American Idol was amazing. There was one scene with singing that I didn't really like. Evidently though this is the same scene that everyone is buzzing about with Jennifer Hudson. Her song "And I'm telling you I'm not going" was a little too over the top for my liking. I really did like the movie though. My husband was less impressed with it.

That's all for now.....

Oooh, do elaborate on the scene you didn't like. I'm debating with myself about whether to see that movie or not.

OK, and you have to tell me how you got BAC to make you a playlist! I have tried numerous times and nothing happens! Is it just my idiot computer?

How fun that you get to go to Applebees! I love that restaurant! We got a gift certificate to go there for Christmas. Hmm...maybe we should head there for dinner! :D

That's great you're having spring-like weather. I love the spring, but it seems just too far away right now.

I totally agree about leaving the newborns home. My 2-month old nephew just got home from the hospital because he had RSV. That's scary stuff and it's just not worth it!

I always think your posts are interesting. You say things that I have trouble putting into words, but once I read it, I think "Yeah, that's how I feel too." :)

5 days old! That is crazy! I can imagine wanting to get out of the house, but leaving the wee one in the child care seems just over the top.

Sounds like a fun month! Eating at a real restaurant 3 times! and still losing weight! you are totally cool!

I'm with TMM, do elaborate.
I'm with Suzanne, your posts are fun.
I'm with Wendy, 5 days old does sound crazy to me. RSV is not fun, why risk it?
