Christmas is in the air

On Saturday Scott pulled our Christmas tree out of the shed. Yes we have a fake tree. We both swore we would have nothing short of the real thing, but we broke down and bought a fake tree a few years ago. I've actually enjoyed it. You can have it up longer and not worry about watering it or it drying out. I do miss the smell of a real tree, but that is what candles are for, right?

Anyway, the tree has been sitting in its box on our back porch since Saturday. We have been busy since then and didn't get it set up yet. Yesterday afternoon it started to snow. The box quickly became covered with snow so we figured it was as good as anytime to bring it in and set it up. Especially since cub scouts and youth night at the church were canceled due to the bad roads and that meant Daddy would be staying home.

We still had to get all the decorations out of the shed so Scott and I bundled up and pulled on our boots and braved the cold, snow and wind to walk to our shed. It was so cold. While pulling boxes off of the shelf I was complaining commenting about how cold it was. He stopped with the boxes and in all seriousness says to me, "Do you think we could survive in here if we had to, in the cold?" He is funny like that. He points to my sleeping bag in one corner of the shed and we both looked above us to see a large roll of carpet in the rafters. I said "I guess we could roll up in the carpet if we had too, but since we don't HAVE to lets hurry and go back inside where it is actually WARM".

While walking back to the house I commented on how maybe we should move to Phoenix where it is warm. Like I said here, I don't mind the snow. If only it could be 70 degrees outside when it snowed. Or I could even go with 50 degrees outside. This below zero or single digit temps is just too much.

We still get a real tree, but I think we may get an artificial one eventually. We haven't gotten it yet this year because my hubby has been so busy with Finals, but we should have it up by this weekend.

That's kind of a scary thought thinking about staying warm if the heat went up. It's cold enough here in Utah. I can't imagine how cold it must be up there in South Dakota! Thank goodness for warm houses! :)

I meant if the heat went out! It wouldn't be too hard to keep warm if the heat was up! ;)

I'm trying to talk Neil into a fake tree. I'm not as "green" as I feel I should be, but I just don't like the idea of chopping one down every year. Even if we do live in the middle of the wilderness.

Mmm...yummy Christmas candles. ~wanders off to find her apple cinnamon votives~

I just posted about our tree, yeah for Christmas trees! Ours is real, but we have contemplated getting a fake one. They are so pricey though! I think when we do get a fakey, we'll have to wait to buy one on clearance after Christmas.

70 degree snow would be fun!

I love my fake tree. I was the nay-sayer at home for years, until DH talked me into it, he was right, it's a good tree.

About "commneting": I AM so using this next time. I no longer complain folks...I comment :) GENIUS!

In the Celestial K will snow while it's 70 degrees. It'll be perfect. Meanwhile stay warm ok?

Fake trees are JUST fine in my book! (We've got one, and plan on having a fakie until the end of time!)
The best scented candle for that "Christmas tree smell" is Yankee's Christmas Wreath! LOVE IT! (WANT IT!) :)
Send just a little snow our way, please! :)

I have a fake tree and LOVE it. I can have it up all month. It's so freezing here. I like the snow if I can look at it while I'm snuggled up in a blanket drinking hot chocolate!

My husband and I are holding out for real trees, HOWEVER I do see the convience of fake. We won't be here for Christmas so don't want to buy a real one but it sure would be nice to have a shed stand-by!

I must confess. The next couple of days after I wrote this post it really warmed up around here. In fact on Friday and Saturday we were in the 60's. The weather here is so crazy like that. Frigid and bitter one day and pleasant and warm the next.
