Gratitude Tuesday - Freedom to vote

From now on at Our Lot in Life, Tuesdays will be a day of gratitude. Thanks for those who have inspired an attitude of gratitude from their blogs.

I am grateful today for the freedom to vote. How grateful I am to live in this country where we have the ability to make our voice heard. Though at times I have felt that my one vote can't really make a difference I know now that it does.

I thought this post by Daring Young Mom was great. No cool story has a great one too.

It is our right and our duty to vote, to exercise that ability to effect change in our lives and in the lives of our children. Please, if you have not already done so, go vote.

I'm loving the daily themes.

Hey Amanda - I read all about the different issues and candidates, and when I went to vote I forgot to take my cheat sheet - I hope I voted for who I meant to vote for.

Did you know that they will let you vote even if you are not a resident of your state? We are residents of Oregon. My driver's license says Florida. But I vote here in South Dakota. I love America!

I will admit that I have been a very inconsistent voter since coming of age, but tonight when I came out of teh polling place, I was overwhelmed by a feeling of peace and thankfulness for the chance I had to vote. And that I could go knowing that no-one would attack me verbally or otherwise or force me to vote a certain way or change my vote after I cast it. I t was very clear in my mind how in some countries people literally put their lives on the line just to stand in line to vote. And we take it for granted. It is truly a beautiful thing.

I'm also loving the daily themes. What a great idea to have a day for posting just about gratitude! I should do that too, along with "Memory Monday." I'm horrible at keeping a journal so it would be a great way to capture my memories.

I hope you enjoying voting! :)

Voted...and have voted EVERY chance I get since I turned 18! I don't understand why people don't do it! Anyway, thanks for the reminder of the great blessing it IS to vote! :)
