What's on my couch?

Thanks to Thoroughly modern millie at WOEITS for bringing to my attention something that has escaped my attention for so long. My laundry. Actually it hasn't escaped my attention because every morning I hear this, "Moooom, I can't find any ________ (insert article of clothing) to wear!". I admit it, we use laundry baskets rather than dressers to hold our clothes. Not that we don't have dressers, we just don't use them. I mean why take the time to fold and put away your clothes when they are just going to be worn and washed/dried and placed in a laundry basket within a matter of days anyway. Really I don't feel this way, but by the looks of my couch right now you wouldn't think it. (Imagine a picture here showing my small gray love seat completely covered with clothing and laundry baskets. I tried to upload a picture but blogger is not playing nice right now.)

Curious though how when I actually do get my rear in gear and get everything folded and put away and the hamper is actually empty (for at least a milisecond) the clothes don't all fit in the dressers anway. Strange! Like that really ever happens here though.

So today I will be folding and putting away my laundry. My children, the older three, are responsible for folding and putting their own clothes away, but I haven't exactly sorted clothes into baskets for a few days either. Thus making it harder to find clothes let alone fold them and put them away.

As far as my "healthy living" update. I haven't done so hot today. I was going to exercise to a video this morning, but just didn't feel the need. Then I have eaten 2 small bags of M&M's that my kids got from my visiting teachers yesterday. The kids don't actually know that they got a bunch of candy from my visiting teachers so they won't care that I am eating their candy. But really it is not my fault. That super happy girl over at More cowbell said that I need to leave more chocolate candy wrappers for the harqubusier because they apparantly are not getting enough and are on the verge of extinction. So I had to do my part. Really it is a noble thing if you ask me!

Is that what dressers are for?? Putting clothes IN!? Whoa...call me edumacated!! :D
(If you can't tell...I don't put my clothes away either!!)

There you go, it's not our fault, it's those silly harquebusiers (my kids are like "mom, what the heck?") :)
I did badly today too, between the muffins, the hot chocolate and all the rest I lost count of all the calories I was consuming. We shall worry about it other day.

You know, in the whole spectrum of life, really, laundry is not that important right? I mean, we have other motherly things to do, right? laundry and sorting clothes should not be the all...bah, forget it.

I'll tell you how to upload your pics to blogger, they are there, he's just being obnoxious as usual, e-mail me at mascowbell at gmail dot com (trying to keep those spam robots at bay).

Hey, just found you from Daring Young Mom. Glad I'm not the only one scared to death by Watcher in the Woods.

I am sharing the laundry angst. Rather than FOLD the dang stuff, I just sifted through five baskets to pack for a trip. Arrggh!

Hey Amanda! I feel your pain about laundry. It used to be one of my favorite chores awhile back. That changed after I had my second child. It went from doable to this mountain that never seemed to go away.

Now I do the laundry for the week on one day. It's a hard day and I don't get anything else done, but it makes the rest of my week better. Yes, sometimes I don't get done and there are baskets to be sifted through, but it seems to work most of the time.

Good luck! :)

Laundry. It's really a love/hate thing. Maybe in Hawaii I can just have the kids wear swimssuits that they just rinse out in the shower at night and hang to dry on a rack while they sleep so that they can wear the SAME one the next day and the next day.... That might fix things.

What? How did I miss that you are freaked out by the Watcher in the Woods! I so remember that creapy movie. I wonder if they have it at Mr Movies for a Halloween treat - I won't be able to watch it, but Hannah will love it!

dawyneyl, love that edumacated word. LOL

no cool story, your right laundry really isn't that important in the scheme of things. I emailed you. ;)

becca, welcome. It is nice to "meet" you. I hated that movie! Have fun on your trip! :)

suzanne, I wish I could only do laundry 1 day a week, but between the six of us it all adds up WAY too fast.

Wendy, good luck with the swimming suit thing! lol Yeah, Watcher in the Woods gave me nightmares for months. I thought as an adult I should try and watch it again, I mean a Disney movie can't be all that scary right? Wrong! I couldn't finish it!!

FlyLady says to do one load a day... it's a good thing she doesn't live next door (I'd be tempted to shove one of my shod feet in her mouth).

I need a laundry day too - a day to catch up. I did NOTHING today.

I am so with you on the laundry thing. My husband wonders why I leave the "easiest" (according to him) part of laundry undone. The putting folded clothes back in drawers part. Because it is just so hard! :) I just run out of steam after sorting, washing, re-sorting, and folding the riciculous mountain of laundry twice a week. So the baskets stay out. For days and days. I would just have my husband do the "easy" part, but I can be a control freak, and he doesn't always put it away right. What is wrong with me?

I use my washing machine as a dirty laundry basket. Fill it up with whites or colours, and put it through when it's full. Tah-dah!

My bedroom currently has four loads of unfolded laundry adorning it. I'm fine with the doing laundry part...it's the folding...argh! The folding!!

You've inspired me though...I'm off to find out whether our dressers can hold all our clothes or not =P

I'm all about the flylady-one-load-a-day thing... I mostly do it 'cuz it's better for our septic, but it does make it more manageable! Good luck climbing the laundry mountain.

So glad I'm not the only one whose kids don't know about half of the candy they are "given". ;o)

Okay, I do AT LEAST 2 loads a day, and I still have a mountain. It's easier when the kids are younger, I think. I don't remember having this problem when I had 2 kids. *sigh*
