cub scouts, make believe and snot

Jordan had cub scouts tonight. He is so excited being new to Cub Scouts and all. He has his first pack meeting next week and can earn his bobcat if I will only do a few things with him. One of them being read and discuss with him the "Protecting your child from Child Abuse" guidebook that comes with the cub scout manual. So being the wonderful, not to say naive Mom that I am I begin reading it to him. I didn't realize that you don't have to read the WHOLE thing to him, just do the activities with him and help him understand about abuse and all. This was all just a teeny bit awkward, you know sexual abuse and molestors and things that my son has NO IDEA what in the world I am talking about. I know it is important and we have talked to our kids about stranger danger and inappropriate touching and so forth. This just sort of caught me off guard. I should have READ IT MYSELF first and then discussed it with him. His eyes were HUGE and I am not sure how well he will sleep tonight, but at least he will earn his bobcat next week.

Kimberly is giddy and happy and talks SOOO much. (Imagine two 6 year olds that appear to be on a sugar high CONSTANTLY and you have my twins.) I try and tuck her into bed and she just can't. stop. talking. I love to hear her talk about school and her teachers and her friends, but the girl has got to get some sleep sometime! I think she even talks in her sleep.

Kaylynn is our little fiesty one. Today she was overheard telling Kimberly (they were playing pretend) "Servant, come here!" Apparantly Kaylynn was the queen and Kimberly was the servant. These two little girls are always pretending. If only life could always turn out "happily ever after".

Megan has been coughing, sniffling, sneezing etc today. Earlier I asked her if she needed her nose wiped. Dumb question as I am holding her in my arms and I can see the snot right there. She says "No" and then gets it with her finger and wipes it on my face. EEWWWWW!!!! One more thing that I never thought I would experience as a mother.

And I can't end without complimenting my dear husband. On Wednesdays I have been babysitting two kids (ages 4 and 2) while their mom, who is Jordan's den leader, takes him to Cub Scouts. I have them for about an hour until their daddy comes home from work to pick them up. Today both my 2 year old and their 2 year old had stinky pants. My husband got home about this same time and changed BOTH diapers for me. This is quite an accomplishment seeing as how he has a hard enough time changing stinky diapers on his own children, let alone someone else's. The funny thing is he is always telling me that his smellers don't work. This is until he is changing a stinky diaper and then they work JUST fine.
