Sturgis

Living in South Dakota you have to get used to the motorcycles. You know in Pennsylvania they have the ground hog that lets you know when spring is coming. Well....in South Dakota we have Harley-Davidson's. When you hear the roar of motorcycles you know spring can't be far away.

Every August there is a HUGE Harley-Davidson motorcyle rally in Sturgis, South Dakota which is about 30 minutes from Rapid City. When I say huge, I mean HUGE. On average half a million bikers infiltrate our fair state for a period of about 7 to 10 days. It is interesting to see the bikes and the bikers. On Saturday we met some while we are at Shcholotzky's (sp?). They were from Florida, Texas and Illinois. They really come from all over. The interesting thing is a lot of them are older, not your average "hells angels" type people. Although we do have them too. If you would like to read more check out this link:
