Scott and I decided to take the kids on a little road trip for the 4th of July weekend. We headed East to Pierre, the capital of South Dakota, and took a little detour through the Badlands National Park along the way.
We left a rainy Rapid City late Friday morning and enjoyed some sunny weather at the Badlands. By the time we got to Pierre we had time for dinner and swimming before we hit the hay.
The next morning we went in search of Perkins for breakfast. We got stuck in parade traffic and even got to be in part of the parade. Next time we will bring candy to throw out to the onlookers. Evidently there is only one road leading from one direction to the other, so the parade was on one side of the street while they allowed through-traffic on the other side of the road. Very strange, but we got to be in the parade. Sort of. Next we visited the state capital in Pierre and enjoyed touring the building as well as the grounds. I even got to sit in the Govenor's chair. We headed back to Rapid City and were able to see the fireworks Saturday night. It was such a great weekend!

Sounds like an adventure!
We keep thinking about doing something in our parade, but every year we just end up sitting out in front of our house instead (the parade goes right by our house).
Looks like you had such a great time. It's always great to go and visit your Stake Capital.
