Friday Feast - October 12

Yesterday I mentioned that I am going to try and spend less time at the 'puter' and more time with my precious babies. This may mean that I blog less as well as visit and comment on other people's blogs less. Please, please don't feel bad or take it personally if I don't get around and comment or visit as much. I really need to do this for myself and my family and I know that you will all be understanding while I try to find some balance in my life. :)

With that said, here is yet another....

Appetizer
When was the last time you were surprised?
Earlier this week I was surprised, and saddened, by the mixed reaction over Sister Julie Beck's talk from General conference (click to read her talk - it is awesome).

Soup
Fill in the blanks: My eyes are ________, but I wish they were __________.
My eyes are blue, and I'm quite happy with the color they are. :)

Salad
If you were a Beanie Baby, what would you look like and what would your name be?
I would look like this for obvious reasons ;):

Main Course
Name two things you consistently do that you consider to be healthy habits.
Sleep and eat. Isn't that enough. Okay, I exercise 2 or 3 times a week (trying to increase that to 3 or 4) and I drink lots of water every day.

Dessert
What brand of toothpaste are you using these days? Do you like it? Why or why not?
I am pretty loyal to Crest. I'm not sure why, I just like it. I've tried other brands, most recently Colgate, but I came back to Crest as soon as I could.

YAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY

I'm doing the same thing with my online time. The other day I thought, "What if I died tomorrow? Would my kids have any memories of me besides me sitting on the computer chair with my face stuck to the monitor?"

I'm the same way about Crest! Just nothing else seems as good.

You really do have nice eyes!

Yay for exercising and drinking lots of water!

Do we get to call you "Angel Bear" now??? ;D

I'm trying to cut back on the computer, too. I have no one at home, but I have plenty of things to get done.

Amanda--I still am so surprised at the negative reaction to Sister's Beck's talk. I thought it was amazing. Yeah, after listening I realized that I have lots to do, but I feel that after I hear each of them speak. I'm not discouraged, because I know that's why we're here--to learn and grow. I've commented before that I didn't think she was saying she was perfect and did everything and the rest of us were losers!!!

I'm funny about my toothpaste--I like Aqua Fresh and can't use anything else. If I forget mine and have to use Allan's--yuk!!! Great job with the exercising.

And, I like Suzanne's suggestion that you now be called "Angel Bear".

I am trying to spend less time on the computer. Just kinda a morning and night thing...and then try to get other stuff done during the day.

Lsitening to Sister Beck's talk was a different experience for me than it was for all of the mommy bloggers around here I am sure. I was inspired and a little frightened about motherhood. It makes me excited to have kids and strive to be the best mother I can be...but it also made me afraid of being a failure...which I know I won't be if I just trust in the Lord and do what he wants me to do. I feel Sister Beck was truly inspired and it makes me sad others found it controversial. :(

millie: My kids know the back of my head too well! :(

suzanne: Thanks for commenting on my eyes! :) Angel bear? :)

lisa: Thank you! You too! :)

yvonne: Sister Beck's talk was great! I needed it! :)

lauren: As a wife and mom, you can't do it all! All we can do is be and do our best and let the Lord carry us through the rest. :)

We all hibernate in the summer here because it's too freakin HOT to go outside. But now that falls coming and it's a brisk and breezy 85 degrees, I want to go outside more and enjoy my kids. I'm looking to pull back my blog time too.

Have you noticed this as a theme at almost all our fellow bloggers? I have!

I'm trying to get my blogging in while the kiddos are at school. That way I don't feel like I'm neglecting them.

After listening to Sis Beck's talk, the husband turns to me and said, "That's the first guilt-inspiring talk directed toward women I've ever heard."

I didn't know what he was talking about. What was so freakin' controversial about it, anyway?

(And please. You can't feel bad about not coming to my blog. I mean, how often do I get out to your blog, after all? Or to anyone's? Or to my own, for that matter?)

You are wise and I bet you will love having a break!

I hadn't hard Sister Beck's talk because I was in Canada for Conference. I read some of the reactions and now am eager to read it. Because don't we all need to feel more inadequate? :-)
