Memory Monday - My sweetheart

Phew! I finally got the invitation to switch to Beta blogger, and then this morning it took me forever to sign in. I was afraid I had made a mistake by switching, but everyone else is doing it....

Ten years ago today I was about to meet my future husband. I don't actually remember meeting him then, but I have a picture that has us both in it so I guess that is proof. Ten years ago I was in Pennsylvania serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My companion and I were serving in Lewistown, Pennsylvania and were about to have our first baptism on December 22. Our mission president and his wife were going to be there because this was the first baptism in this area in a VERY long time. We were all very excited.

The big day arrives and some elders show up that I had never seen before. Apparently they had come from their nearby area to speak with the mission president. Anyway, while one was speaking with the president we were taking pictures. The other missionary snuck into one of our pictures. Little did I know that that same missionary would later sneak his way into my heart, after he was no longer a missionary of course, and a year later we would be married. But that day I had no idea who he was, nor did I even notice that he was in our picture until they were developed later. Even then, I wondered who was that?

A few months later I was transferred to Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. That is where I officially met my future husband. He and his companion were serving in a neighboring area and we attended the same church each Sunday. We became friends and I felt there was something special about him, but we were missionaries there to serve the Lord and romance was the last thing on our minds. Three months later it was time for him to go home and then we began writing to each other. We became very close through our letters. I came home 2 months later and he came up from Arizona to my homecoming in Salt Lake City. He moved to SLC a short time later. We were married within 4 months on December 19, 1997. It all happened so quickly, but when you know it's right, why wait!
